Learning snooker is easy. Thousands of people have learned to play snooker at Gamedesire.com.

The point of snooker, like pool, is for two players to take turns hitting the balls into the pockets using the cue ball and the cue stick.

In snooker, there are 15 solid red balls, 6 colored balls, and 1 white cue ball on the table. For the break, the cue ball must contact a red ball first. After the break, players must pocket first any red ball, then any colored ball, then any red ball, then any colored ball, and so on, until all the balls on the table have been pocketed. After a red ball is pocketed, it stays in the pocket. But after a colored ball is pocketed, it is then automatically removed from the pocket and put back on the table. After all the reds on the table have been pocketed, the colored balls are no longer put back on the table when pocketed. The colored balls must now be pocketed in order according to their point value. When all the remaining colored balls have been pocketed, the game is over.

Throughout the entire game, players earn points for pocketing balls. The player that earns the most points wins. The balls have different point values. Reds-1, Yellow- 2, Green-3, Brown-4, Blue-5, Pink-6, Black-7.

Here's a sample snooker game:

  • Player breaks the balls.
  • Player pockets a red ball.
  • Player pockets the blue ball.
  • The blue ball is then removed from the pocket and put back on the table.
  • Player pockets a red ball.
  • Player pockets the yellow ball.
  • The yellow ball is then removed from the pocket and put back on the table.
This continues until all the red balls have been pocketed.

Now that all the red balls are pocketed, colored balls are no longer put back on the table. The colored balls must now be pocketed in the correct order, based on ascending point value.

The game would continue like this:

  • Player pockets the yellow ball.
  • Player pockets the green ball.
  • Player pockets the brown ball.
This continues until all colored balls have been pocketed. The game is now finished.
